Years ago people threw their cast iron cookware out. I got my small frying pan out of a skip. Good cast iron cookware is expensive now.
I found a good set at Costco here! Tramontena

It was this set but did not cost as much

I actually got mine for a great deal at the grocery store...

It came with 3 different sized skillets and it was supposed to be $69.99 (half off), but whoever made the sign misprinted it and it said $9.99. I showed the people at the grocery store and they honored that price plus quickly took down the sign :gig

It would be hard to pass up a deal like that :)

That's not too bad a price. The last time I looked a heavy weight skillet was about 50 Euros here. I have a cast iron stew pot with lid that got badly burnt. I should get it cleaned up really.

Well, I'm at the stove again feeling hungry. I've already had supper so this will be supper No 2.
Having half a day taken out of my normal routine has proven to be a bit of a problem.
It would be okay in the summer months but in winter the daylight is gone way too quickly to get what I want to do done. Mostly I've done what needs to be done in the mornings and had the rest of the day to potter about.

Good grief, I would be lost without a good quality very sharp knife in the kitchen. I have two. One big one and one small one.:D
I like cast iron, or proper steel cookware. I have a few of stainless steel pots and that's about it. I used to have one of those hand blender thingies but it burnt out mixing a nut roast.
I know, I know. It's pretty ridiculous. I'm slowly learning how to be a real adult

I have some cast iron, but I haven't quite figured out how to use it properly. Between the seasoning and not being able to wash it with soap...:confused:Need to keep reading and trying I guess.

Mine are very similar if not the same! They even have the red handle covers :highfive:

Seasoning them is not too hard and you don't have to do it all the time. Buy ones that are pre seasoned... I season mine maybe every 6 months if that.

When I clean mine that have stuff stuck on, which rarely happens... I get coarse salt and put it in the pan with a little tiny bit of water to make like a paste. I have a specific sponge that I use for my cast iron pans as well.

Hot water and a sponge work well. I always add some type of oil to the pan before I even cook in it. I use coconut oil mostly and sometimes olive oil. DH uses butter.

I use soap to wash mine then let them dry and oil them. It seems to work.
