hope things will work out better than you imagine.Truth is Meg I'm getting on a bit for this type of work.Good morning, everyone! Thanks for the coffee, DL.
Careful around the trees, Shad. We've a quite a few around here killed by falling trees/branches, mostly from the beetle kill.
Good luck on the anti anti-depressant, Nancy. Probably one of the most over prescribed drugs out there, with very little in the way of follow up.
I can still climb a tree better than most though. We had some of those caterpillars, but they didn't stay. They all died. I haven't seen any actual tree damage from themTruth is Meg I'm getting on a bit for this type of work.I can still climb a tree better than most though.
The problem is how the trees have to be taken down. There isn't a lot of room and the branches with the candy floss looking stuff is the caterpillars home. The idea is to drop those branches and get them in the fire pit as quickly as possible and then rip the tree out roots and all.
I suppose you've got a bit of practice having to go after your tree-dwelling chickensTruth is Meg I'm getting on a bit for this type of work.I can still climb a tree better than most though.

Do the caterpillars kill the trees? Or just bad news in general? Both. They kill the trees and produce a very nasty allergic reaction if you touch them. Not good for animals. They are a major problem here. I think I mentioned in an earlier post there are over 100 infected trees on the project. Once the chickens arrive one doesn't really want heavy plant and people with chainsaws around. It was decided to deal with the problem now rather than later.I suppose you've got a bit of practice having to go after your tree-dwelling chickensDo the caterpillars kill the trees? Are there any chemicals that kill them? Or can you only burn them? Both. They kill the trees and produce a very nasty allergic reaction if you touch them. Not good for animals.
