According to the statistics, it's still not as bad as 2009 but you've still got a lot of summer to go.
I'm not sure whose statistics you're using but these fires are much, much worse than 2009 in terms of acreage burnt ~ more land than all of Ireland or Belgium. Last I saw was in the hundreds of millions of acreas & most states have @ least one out of control fire. Not as bad in terms of loss of life ~ yet ~ but as you say, we have a lot of summer still to get through.

@Shadrach: I've been wondering if the sort of house you built would be fairly fire resistant? Remember, I'm not a scientist, so explanations need to be simple.:lol: I think our councils need to rethink our building codes for fire prone areas, like they do for cyclone prone areas. Our house is so reinforced it's ridiculous even though we rarely see a cyclone.
