BYC Café

@Shadrach I got a few pictures today:View attachment 1999928The house starts before the bump out, between the man door and the window. This is the West side.

This is the North end that faces the shop. Barn doors closed for calving, cuz... Wind. And it holds heat amazingly well. Yesterday it was -2° F outside and around 15° in the barn!

This is the South end. Bird yard slash orchard. One of these days we'll get rid of that tan monstrosity

East. Bulls are currently sharing digs with the goats. Hence the new wind break put up in the back. Goats have the biggest pen of any animal  This is where the corrals are.

Kitchen window looking at goat pen and calving jugs.

And a better view :)

That's awesome Meg, thanks for sharing pictures!

Ahhh, the good life.

:lau well whoever it is better knock it off!! :rant
It wasn't me!!! We had plenty of our own.

The announcement includes a pre view of the new site
Which I believe will now again look like (new) BYH. The thing I like least is how the emojis work. Have to pop up the selection panel every time you want to put one in vs the way it is here now and was there - the selection panel stayed up until you hit "post reply".

It sounds like an old world concept! I have read that they used to keep livestock and living quarters in the same building which make a lot of sense in places with cold winters
In Spain the farmers lived over the barn. Animals heated the floor.

House looking out into the barn is super convenient Meg! No hanging out in a cold barn waiting on babies or slogging out through the snow to get to the barn for chores!

You bet! And I have another for you :clap
