I went to trim the windows and door with white J-channel only to find it missing from my order. BIL and I went to Lowe's and Home Depot. Neither had any in stock. Great.
I'll call the building materials supplier in Binghamton when I get to work tomorrow and see if they have any.

Once you've read this you will have read that nice daddy's can have nasty boys and nasty daddy's can have nice boys. Strange how these fables don't extend to the female offspring.
Anyway, there you go, You've read most of the alternatives now and I bet you're none the wiser.

First hand experience with that, as well. Cheap Shots two boys are now flock roosters in their own right.

I got my apple juice made. Three quarts! Three... whole quarts. Can't help but feel a twinge of disappointment at my piddly haul. Now I have to hide it in my closet for admiration purposes only.

I kid, of course. I'll get better and faster at it - just have to keep trying.

I've got a few hens going through hard molt right now. I had to share a picture of Goldie. Poor girl.

She just looks pitiful!

Wish I could, but not only does it not taste good to me, I'm having some adverse reactions to it..
Got the brooders all cleaned out and ready for the batch in the incubator.. Moved current chicks from heated brooder to 'next stage' brooder where they have elevated roosts to play on.. Same amount of room and same set up as 'heated' brooder, just more toys. My BCM went into a special cage as she continues to recuperate.. she seems to have no interest outside of her crate.. even when I take her out to play in the grass and sun bathe. 6 more days till hatch date on next batch.
Then took a nice hot epsom salts bath with eucalyptus oil added in, and after that read some more.. Working on book 2 of the "House of Niccolo" series by Dorothy Dunnett.. She's was a great writer.

Ugh, I know it. She's definitely the worst in the wing department, but there are a couple more porcupines out there. There were two in nest boxes last night I couldn't bare to shoo them out...

Good thing is that, in my experience, cold weather really hastens feather regrowth.
