No doubt breathing smoke can inhibit oxygen uptake in the lungs.....
....toxins burning would be whole other aspect.
The toxins do not burn you. They are so small that they get into the bloodstream -- like inhaling many drugs do. They raise heart rate and will eventually kill you. I was very jittery and shaky from it.

The smoke from wildfires goes through the lungs and the airways and can be absorbed into the blood. There are over 400 toxins associated with wildfire smoke, which have a multitude of bad effects on the body. In the blood, these toxins can activate the immune system and platelets and the lining of blood vessels.Aug 26, 2020

5 Questions: Researchers discuss wildfires' health impacts ...

Had another scare today.
I knew I was going to be late getting home so I had UN get DH at 1:30 and bring him to my mom's.
I got a text from the neighbor at 3:12 asking if I knew why my front door was wide open.

I frantically called him and told him DH must have let UN in the front door and didn't lock it. I asked him to get the dogs back in. He said he didn't see them. That ramped up the panic alarm.

I called my mom and asked her to go up the hill and help find the dogs and Mogwai.
I called the neighbor back and he'd managed to find the dogs and coax them back into the house with PB. But said he couldn't find Mogwai. I told him a few of her hiding places and he found her behind the coffee maker on her stack of egg cartons. Phew!

Bella and her door opening was funny at first but it's a terrible combination with someone with AD. I'm going to tape the dead bolt thumb latch with a big X to try to remind DH to leave it alone. But UN will need to know to make sure all the doors with lever style handles that lead to the outside are locked so Bella can't open them when he leaves with DH in the future.

Once I knew everyone was safe, I had a melt down at work. Thank goodness for compassionate work friends with out of the way offices... And for hair color so I can dye all my new gray hairs.

I meant if there were toxic items burning(plastics/petrols/etc) there can be toxins in the smoke/fumes that will absorb into your system.
Yes! When the houses and cars burn the smoke is much worse here. The last one was terrible. Something like 400 or so buildings

There is a Pay if Forward practice for people who leave shopping carts out of the locks at Aldi for the next person who may need a cart but doesn't have a quarter.
Whenever I use one of these carts I ALWAYS leave it out for the next person.
Today, after I pushed the cart up near the others but left it unlocked I watched as a girl shoved her cart in, locked it and retrieved her quarter. Then shoved the cart I had put there and took the quarter!
Well... me being me and all, I had turned full around and was staring right at her as she turned around and I told her that I had left that cart there for the next person who didn't have a quarter to use and it wasn't for her to take the quarter. She wouldn't even look me in the eye and scampered off to her SUV. I guess she was so pressed for money this week that she needed that quarter to make ends meet.
It's people like this that make me prefer my dogs.
