You don't have to have your own firewood. I don't.I would love to have a wood burning stove.. but not enough hardwood around my property to keep it going for long. Turned the heater on this morning to take the chill out of the house. Brooder room is nice and snuggly because of the heat lamp going.
I have 2 cords of cut, split and seasoned wood delivered each year and get pallet scrap wood to fill in the gaps between the cord wood. I can keep the the hearth room at 72F when it's -20F outside with my little Blaze King Ashford 20.
I heat my house for $350-$400 per year depending on how cold it gets.
