BYC Café

I would love to have a wood burning stove.. but not enough hardwood around my property to keep it going for long. Turned the heater on this morning to take the chill out of the house. Brooder room is nice and snuggly because of the heat lamp going.
You don't have to have your own firewood. I don't.
I have 2 cords of cut, split and seasoned wood delivered each year and get pallet scrap wood to fill in the gaps between the cord wood. I can keep the the hearth room at 72F when it's -20F outside with my little Blaze King Ashford 20.
I heat my house for $350-$400 per year depending on how cold it gets.

Oh mai.. they even have gas stoves! A free standing gas stove would be nice too since I have a large LP tank outside and the only appliance that uses LP in the house is the stove.

Lots of free firewood on Marketplace.

🥶 Chickens aren't even out yet this morning. But it is pretty! Glad it's Saturday and I don't need to be anywhere :)

Brrrr! I'm just not ready for pictures like this.

Coffee is brewing! Lots.
I am up with a runny nose and stuffy nose, but I can still smell the smoke so probably not the Covid. ;)
I have not checked on the fires yet. They were moving yesterday and everyone is gettin edgey. The wind is still rocking and rolling too.
DL, I am glad the scare worked out fine. Hugs! I think changing out the door handles to the outside world just might be the thing to do. You can put them on another house or put them aside for a few years. It may just save some stress in the long run.
CS, what is your chick count and some pics, please!
I have yet to see a grocery cart pay system!
Today, I guess it will be hibernate from the smoke day and watch DS$ wrestle on the live streaming from the tournament. It is hard sometimes with DH hollering at the monitor in my small kitchen desk area. He is loud in an arena!
Breathing the wildfire smoke does have a lot the the symptoms of covid

I ran into the neighbor who rescued my escaped dogs yesterday. I had Bella in the truck with me when I stopped and thanked him.
He was keeping his distance looking at her then said, "she bit me in the ass on my way out the door yesterday". Well. That's gratitude for ya.
I had him come up to greet her and I said to Bella "he's a good boy!" and she licked his hand.

Editted to remove verb that totally changed the story!!
