It make more sense for a Hatchery to do this since even a small percentage better hatch rate can equal a lot of profit for them.In all my years of breeding chickens I have never obsessed about the eggweight / moisture loss during incubation.![]()
I think we seem to consider as 'normal' what we are used to.Allot of life is really wonky right now ..
How to make it normal again is beyond me ..
and what is normal ?
Shearing sheep in CO in February??????My sheep are scheduled to be shorn this Friday of course...
I HOPE there is a typo there! Even the smallest of the eggs I get is close to 45 grams.Actual weight is 1.780 grams, which is quite good.
I HATE THAT!!!!!!!like going to the grocery store and the shelves and aisles have been re-arranged
Any luck here, Tonya?Seneca is working on egg number 3. At night. I had her in the bathroom. She's not pushing consistently so I can't get at the egg.
I gave her a full calcium tablet.
She's being really frisky and keeps tugging at my sweater and flying up to the edge of the tub.
I put her in the crate next to the wood stove and offered her another fermented feed, ACV, Greek yogurt, probiotic concoction and she ate over half of it then dove into the water I gave her.

This is her vent today. Egg still in there. The bottom half still has a thick layer of crusty tissue on it. I think it's causing some of the loss of elasticity. But it's getting better.

Lots of false starts. Three times. She'll be in the crate straining, I'll bring her in to try to get it out and she stops pushing. She's staying in for the night. I don't know how much sleep I'll get.Any luck here, Tonya?
