Yes. Sea turtles, sharks and gulls eat adults. Humans just use them as bait.

Oh, and a new stack of books, so that might keep me on the couch.

That is part of my vacation strategy! But I'm in a beach chair under an umbrella instead of on the couch.

Thanks for the coffee! I don't know DL, you may be genetically altering the IQ level of those crabs in a downward direction...
You should paint a dot on them. Maybe you have thrown the same crabs back many times and now they just look forward to your company!
It is quite the mystery! LOL!

Well Margie, very few of these crabs needed rescue today. I cleared the beach rather quickly.
The vast majority made it back to the water. What happens is the waves roll them on their backs. They use their tails to try to flip over.
Sometimes their tails sink down into the wet sand and they get stuck.
About half of them have damaged tails so if they are flipped, they are doomed.
Some are missing their tails entirely.
Skittles is completely over his apprehension of them and kept trying to pull them back out of the water by their tails. Naughty boy.

Buttoned up the house early this morning, helped keep it cooler.
Now that it's cooling outside, blowing all the heat out of the attic and drawing some fresh air in.
