Last night I went out to check to see if the flock was ready for lock up and the peppers were all loitering around outside with a few straggler hens. Their mother was roosted in her old spot next to her buddies. Huh. She kinda skipped over the "teaching them how to roost" part.

I've only had one broody get the chicks up onto a roost.

How old are these chicks....just a couple weeks?

They'll be 5 weeks this Wednesday.

Canning the last of the bushel of tomatoes I bought last Thursday. I'll probably need to buy another half bushel before I call it done for the season. We need to make more salsa for DH.

I can't eat the stuff he likes. For a 10 cup batch yesterday, he used 8 habaneros and 6 jalapenos. He pronounced it "excellent" and put some on his tacos. I licked the spoon and that was enough for me. Yup, I'm a wimp!
