Yeah, the snow is pretty, got about 5-6 inches here, but it's still kinda 'wet' and doesn't throw well. Thought it was going to go well after the first clog, got a couple good rows done, then I threw a chain. That went back on easily due to my 'new' technique. Got more a few more rows thrown, then after 3 more clogs I gave up. Think I'll put on the spare drive belt, old one is probably shot and is slipping, and try again tomorrow when it's a bit colder out. Hopefully I get it all back to snuff before the foot or so forecast for Th, Fri, Sat.

We have another grey day and lots of work to do - I'm collaborating on a textbook chapter on reproduction in long-finned pilot whales that is due for submission to the editors tomorrow. It's crunch time!

It's chilly (20s), but supposed to get into the teens later this week, along with another whallop of snow. Just in time for Christmas. I'm glad we're staying home!

Two days to SOLSTICE!! I have a couple more hens who look like they're ready to start laying any day now. I sure hope I don't need to buy eggs for another 9-10 months.

Now, I need to start DH thinking about adding on to the coop so I can get/hatch some chicks! Fresh eggs next fall, dear. A little more self sufficiency, dear. (Cute, fluffy chicks, me!)

I have approximately 47 sf in the coop and 164 sf in the run for 7 chickens right now. If we added on a symmetrical wing to the coop to match what we did in 2021, I'd have about 62 sf in the coop. Actually less, because the way it's laid out, the nest boxes would be on the floor instead of elevated as they are now. But that would be better for Widget to brood chicks in, right?

The warm temps and tons of snow, preceded by rain, do not bode well.

How is the pup doing this morning?

She's a brat!! Starting to have more "accidents" where she pees outside of her porta-potty inside her play pen. It's easy enough to clean up but that's hardy the point. None yet today but it's still early. She did pee on her pad twice while I was busy in the kitchen.
And the chewing! WTH? The entire world is not edible.
Thank goodness she sleeps well at night or I'd have gone stark raving mad by now.

I hope there isn't a lot of meat that needs to be added and just gravy and presentation.

But that would be better for Widget to brood chicks in, right?

Ah yes, the joys of a puppy. Well, they have to find out what is edible, and what isn't. Maggie was really an easy puppy, but then came the teen aged months.
