BYC Café

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready.

Went to M&S's (Shadow's mom/dad) yesterday to run the dogs some place new and have dinner. M had baked cookies and it being the holiday season I had some. She also made homemade caramels. I had one and it pulled my crown off. Serves me right. It's in a ziplock bag on my counter.

Good morning Cafe! Thanks for the coffee DL!

I’m sorry to hear about your crown - what a bummer.

All is well here in Cape Breton. It’s a grey and dreary day, so I’m glad I went walking yesterday (photo from that walk). Cold and crisp outside, but we’re expecting another rain storm for New Years.

What a beautiful place to hike!
M & I went to an old golf course of an abandoned country club near her house. It is probably nicer when everything isn't covered in snow and ice as it's very overgrown. Skittles gave me a scare when he started walking funny then just fell over. I gave Piper to M and scooped him up and carried him for a while and he acted normal while I carried him. I put him back down and he was fine. We both think his feet got cold again and he just tipped over on his coat to get his feet off the snow. He was fine the rest of the hike and we kept it short to no more than 30 minutes.

That photo is two minutes from our driveway - we are really lucky to live where we do. During the pandemic when everything was locked down, we had endless hiking trails and access to skidoo trails in the highlands without having to drive anywhere.

Cold is definitely hard on puppy feet! I didn't take Salt for the walk yesterday as she would have been too cold. She comes along on the fairer weather days.

I remember my mom doing that. I never saw her eat a caramel after that. Glad your dentist got you in and got it fixed so quickly!

Ditto here. We are the luckiest people I know.

This is what Piper's coat looked like on Dec 10 when she was at the vet getting her health check for the certificate she needed for the flight to me.

This video was taken yesterday.

I did share a picture with the breeder. I have not yet told her she's on a raw diet. She and her vet are very uneducated when it comes to good canine nutrition. And are using a VERY antiquated vaccine protocol.

The breeder gave me a $200 credit because she didn't like Piper's coat or ears when she was sent to me.

The ears are getting better too but I doubt I can get them to look proper because she should have had the nasal strips put in them about a week after the surgery to keep the scar tissue from contracting the outer edge of her ears and pulling them out and down. But they'll get better with me being more diligent about the strips and taping them up.
