Only got to mid 40's here, buffered by the lake probably.
But there can be 'micro-climates' created by the undulations of the land, cold air will roll downhill. Back when I used to garden, I would not plant anything outdoors until memorial day. Except planting garlic in the fall, and frost doesn't bother garlic but to nip the leaf tips.
Broken egg mess in a nest again last night, probably the old girl laying funky eggs.
2 broodies went into breaker crates.
Goldie is gone. She did well in crate yesterday, ate and drank a bunch, but when I went to put her on the roost last night her legs seemed to be failing and this morning she couldn't walk. I decided it was time, she was a great bird thru the years and the relief that she will no longer suffer is barely balanced by the sadness of her demise.
