No matter how bad things are getting for me, life keeps on keeping on.
Jody and her chick came out today.

She's over reacting to the most of the hens proximity to her chick and keeps attacking them. I broke up a fight between her and one of the very safe and stable Originals, Amelia, and Wren, who probably shouldn't be trusted.
Aunt Alecia, super great hen that she is, watched and seemed to understand to keep her distance a bit. She was not attacked.

The toads have spawned.

Another pair is in the pond waiting for nightfall.

There is a marginal shelf, a beach and they climb up into the potted plants and hop out.

My life is a landslide of unfortunate events at the moment.

So when not dealing with all of that, I'm trying to focus on the easier, more happy stuff to keep from falling apart.

I've been trying to graft Astrid to the wet nest outside of the ward and she's not having it. So I moved her into the ward with Jody yesterday and draped the towel over ward roof to make it more cozy. They shared the ward last night. I put food for Jody and her chick out in the little run.

I went out to check on them before running the dogs and Astrid was up off the nest clucking away staring at Jody's chick trying to steal it! That was one of my fears. The ironic thing is Jody is Astrid's adopted daughter and the chick Jody hatched is Astrid's biological daughter. Crazy stuff!
