BYC Café

Good morning, Cafe', and thanks for the coffee. @DobieLover good luck with the chicken drama. When life stuff gets too deep, I get physically busy to get out of my head - that can be a scary place to dwell. :hugs
I have 2 ways to get away from stress. One is working on my ceramics. The other is rock collecting. Have not done the collecting lately, but hoping to do some of that soon. So peaceful being near a stream and hearing the water trickling by. Sometimes i sit and look at a pile of rocks, sometimes i wander along and see what i find on the way. Love my rocks! Hubby, not so much, as far as the rocks go.

Long day. DH is eating well but still on a pureed diet. He was supposed to see the geriatric specialist to get him started on a more appropriate drug to stabilize his behavior instead of continuing to use the Haldol. He also needs to get up and walk more.

He needs to be evaluated for transfer to a skilled nursing facility and none of this is happening. I'm going to kick up into "pain in your ass" mode to get some things moving tomorrow.

My mom was released from the hospital today. She went to my sister and BIL's house temporarily. My sister had a hospital bed, wheel chair, etc. delivered and set up down stairs for her. She'll stay there until she can get a bed at Mercy House.

Right now, our power is off. No biggie, except I have a brooder plate keeping (5) one week old chicks warm. So we have the generator running, just for them. Estimated restoration time is 1:30 am. I need to stay up and watch for the neighbor's light to come on so that I know the power's on and I can turn off the genny.

DH was very pissy when the power went off. He worked today, and was beat. Yeah, dear, I get it. You threw a monkey wrench into my day too.

Then I think of what @DobieLover is going through. I want to slap myself (and hubby, haha) for thinking we've got problems.

I never mentioned that I forgot to take Piper's panties off after dinner and she ended up pooping in her panties. That was not fun for either of us!

@aart I saw the big white comet playing with a strand of toad eggs from last nights spawn. Hopefully, she munched on some of them.

I finally got my truck back from the repair shop. They had it 3 days to replace a cable that opens the driver's door from the inside. But, happily, it is done!
Just found that SIL and BIL are coming to visit on Sunday. On their way back to NS from FL. Which is nice, but the spare bedroom is a dumping ground for the bunk beds, mattresses, extra groceries, etc. So that needs to be all cleaned up and moved. Up into the loft, where all my fabric and bins of stuff i have nowhere else to store it. Because we have only 2 closets and no basement. So i basically need to clean the whole house. As well as getting all my planting done, and animal chores! OMG!

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready.

Jody is calming down. Aunt Alecia and big daddy where with her when she came out of the ward (past Astrid on the wet nest) this morning. I then tossed Astrid while I cleaned the boards to see if she would get back on the wet nest on her own.

She caused a ruckus in the run by alert calling from a perch then cluck-cluck-clucked her way back into the coop, went to the door to the ward and looked in for a few seconds, did an about face and headed for the ramp so she could go up to the nest boxes. I grabbed her and set her about 1 foot in front of the door to the ward and waited with her. She finally walked through and settled back down. Maybe tomorrow I'll give her eggs. She's sitting on 4 ceramics now.

I've read that toad eggs, and toads, are unpalatable to fish and probably other critters.
This being a carnival fish that has never been in a pond wouldn't know until after she ate some. There are going to be a lot of tadpoles when these eggs hatch.

Oh good grief! I just read up on how the toad eggs and taddies can hurt my fish if they eat them. I've been trying to feed them fish food but they haven't really been coming to the surface to get it. So they may be hungry enough to sample them and get sick from the toxins they excrete.
I'm going to net out the toad eggs and move them to one of the nearby ponds.
