BYC Café

A light rain just started so I came in to rest. It's quite relaxing listening to the rainfall out there. We do have the potential for strong thunderstorms.

This gal, who is headed for my pond, is the fourth turtle to pay a visit. Three nests have already been deposited in the landscaping around my pond. Thanks for messing up the mulch!
A fifth turtle was found in the arrangement in my front yard. Give me a break, will ya!

Another turtle visited us too. This time, NOT a snapper. I think she made a nest in the driveway, right in a tire lane. Not a good place. It has been driven over several times already. :(
I saw a 6th marching towards my mulch pile during pouring down rain. I had to run out there, scoop her up and put her in the front arrangement.

Good afternoon, Café!

After several days of heavy rainfall the sun is out again and everything is partly hidden in steamy haze.

I have four additional wannabe broodies locked up in the aviary and at least two of the cockerels are now crowing regularly having started at 7 weeks old.

This year we are under the attack of a horrendous amount of biting/stinging bloodsucking insects. A friend of mine just sent me pictures of her mares' legs all swollen from the stings.

Even the dogs want to stay inside the house as it is not fun to be outside and one has a hard time to get tasks done as at least one if not two hands/arms are needed to keep the attacking insects at bay :barnieBut they get us anyway.

At least there is no shortage of insects for the birds to feed to their offspring this year.

Always look on the bright side...🎶

Have a great Tuesday everyone!
