BYC Café

Good morning and thanks for the hot coffee!
We had strawberry rhubarb pie at DS@'s house yesterday,
smoked ribs, smoked poppers, and veggies.
It was all very delicious and very filling!
Today is a 4 doc appts day for my friend and I hope that she is moving better and the swelling has gone down. At least the weather is nicer this week.
Enjoy the day, Cafe!

I have to go to the Assessors office to drop off my grievance form this morning. They sent me a letter when I was in DE stating that they've increased my assessment by 40%!!
The assessor reviewed all the information I provided and tried to determine why the increase was made. It was because of my solar panels!! However, they applied the full price of the panels to the assessed value instead of the full market value. We have a 53.5% equalization rate here so they "should" have only applied $14,388 to the assessed value but instead increased my assessment from $67,000 to $93,893.

BUT... NYS has an exemption rule for solar panels to encourage homeowners to install renewable energy. This rule exempts your property from have the assessment increased because of the installation of renewable energy. BUT you have to APPLY for it, you don't just get it (which you should). The assessor got the form, I signed and he filled everything out and stamped it and voilà, no more increase to my assessment! :wee

Yikes, I hope that is transferable to his heir(you?)
All the life use does is attach the person to the property. The property cannot be sold unless he relinquishes the life use or dies. I just had them file the DC so that the house can eventually be sold when I croak.

I picked some rhubarb today, and have it prepping in the fridge. There was a few stalks left over, so I made rhubarb custard. It's tasty, but the custard is a mess, broken and watery. I'll try making it again and use cornstarch to thicken it next time. It might still be a mess; it's tasty enough to make, just not pretty enough to serve to anyone who is not hubby and me.

Good morning and thanks for the coffee!
My endless doc appt friend and I are going to the Antique Roadshow. She scored some tickets and it is on her bucket list of things to do. It will be a new experience for me seeing as how I don't even watch the shows. She has a couple of things to bring and we will see how I manage all of the different pieces of this adventure. I need a burro! Do they have service burros?
Okay, well, time to coffee up and figure this out...
Enjoy the day, Cafe!
I am glad that you had a successful day, DL!
You too, aart!
