I was threatened often with the  expression " wash your mouth out with soap,"   but, thankfully I don't recall having it done to me. Nowadays maybe it is considered  child abuse like a spanking.  The spankings, I do remember.  And being threatened with my father's favorite weapon - his army belt.

Belt from dad, wooden spoon from mom. I had a bum made of adamantium, there were many spoons broken over these glutes!

(Yeah I was a pain in the patella of a child...)

GOOD FOR YOU PROSTAR! I bet when they'd say "This is gonna hurt me more than you, they were telling the truth.

I know I have a lead bottom but, didn't make any difference.

Zomg. Bloody takes from the dmv.

They apparently after changing the rules could only test me for and issue me a learners permit.

I go back to a different dmv in a little over two weeks for the driving test....if I wanted to stay doing it at that dmv I would be waiting til mid August. ***.

Sooo I'm supposed to be driving with a licensed driver. But can still drive with my Alberta license. So what's the point of that...

Seriously! Cough, Cough! Eye roll and all that!
Nice storm just went through, although the lightning was a bit too close.
I am getting some of my chicks from Sand Hill Preservation this Thursday. Yahoo!

Oh man Margie we had a good one too. Thunder boomers and POURING rain. Yay we need. But now it's back to hot and sunny. And humid.

Girls are out scratching around underneath the trailer. Squirrels are wise to the squirrel trap. Need to try something new...maybe leave it wide open with food so they can escape and get comfortable with it. Then bam.

Morning all,

I must say I was quite lucky as a child. Neither I nor my brother and sisters ever had the threat of having our mouths washed out with soap and water. There was not much need for it to be honest. We were raised in a healthy state of fear of our parents, and the worst thing that our Mother could ever say to us was "You just wait 'til your Father comes home!" Not that anything much ever happened when he did finally come home - usually he would yell and threaten us but that was about it. He is a big man, my Dad, and a big man towering over you and yelling was enough to make us quit whatever errant behaviour we had been displaying!

It was rare for us to be spanked as children, too. We were raised fairly strictly, so didn't dare to get into too much trouble. The few times we did cop a slap to the backside were probably well deserved. I must say, it never hurt any of us to receive the odd slap when we were being disobedient. We grew up to be good, law abiding folk. Normally we only got a spanking when we hurt each other or did something very dangerous. I can't help but wonder that if perhaps it was still acceptable then maybe children wouldn't be growing up to be the insolent, inconsiderate people they are becoming now-a-days. Maybe it just comes down to how you raise your children though, and your ability to instil good morals to begin with.

The weather here is pretty cold. We aren't getting much rain this Winter, and there are patches of blue sky but it's still freezing. The wood fire is going 24/7 at the moment.

My day today is a fairly quiet one. Laundry, housework, a grocery trip and I'm going to visit our town library and see what's on offer. You never know, maybe they have courses or clubs I can join where I can make some friends. It's hard being in a town where you don't know a soul. I think a lot of people make friends through their kids being at school, and I don't have that option. Anyway, I'll see what the day brings.

Have a lovely day everyone!

Prostar - I'm interested. What sort of foods do squirrels find irresistible? Like, what would you put in the trap to entice them? Is it true, like in the cartoons, that they like nuts?

Quote: They are a rodent and can and will eat anything to include eggs if they are hungry. I think that the little sneak thieves get used to a type of food and go looking for it. I have some that will only eat the horse stuff and go thru the apples for grain, and others that only go after bird feed and will run across the horse pens without stopping for the goodies.
So far they haven't got used to the C02 BB pistol
