Ahhh! You got me for about 5 more minutes and them off to get chores done and then off to the wrestling meet.
Made elk lasagna and fruit bars for the boys last night before heading off to book group, so at least there are leftovers for this evening and that is good. The sheep are heading down tomorrow, It is confirmed and that works because we have yet another wrestling gig in the Denver area. The Drake on the Lake is gone. Some critter got a tasty meal. The two girls were captured and brought down to lower elevations by some sort of rescue group that someone called. They said that because they had no parents to raise them, that the ducks would not know to leave. The Drake was too willie to catch until he met that cold windy weather a week ago and then gone. So hopefully, no one dumps anymore ducks on the lake next year.

Some people assume that because an animal has wild ancestors way back somewhere, it will be fine on its own.

Almost all of our modern duck breeds are descended from the wild Mallard, but we don't expect Indian Runners to migrate in the winter, do we? Just because these birds looked like wild mallards doesn't mean they had the instincts, as this sad story proves. I, too, hope nobody has to deal with someone else's ignorance and irresponsibility next year.

Good morning! Animals will always be dumped, people are constantly dumping dogs and cats out here, and they do not look wild at all. I don't know if there is a good solution.
