I hate that too! Is she a different breed or much different looking than the others? If you are bringing her in alone, she's just making her stand to let them know they can't gang up on her. Hopefully they will work it out amicably.

She looks just like my blue Andalusians except she has the rumpless thing going on that makes her very different from everyone else.

I don't have a place to quarantine separately, but she is living in a wire crate in the coop with them where they can see each other but not attack.

Alrighty! Clearly I am a very impatient woman! I didn't really think about the fact that the Araucana JUST came to us on Thursday! Already I was pressuring her to integrate into my flock! Well, anyway, success!

She is now IN the flock and has definitely made her stand and taken TOP POSITION in the pecking order! Cheeky bugger! She has earned herself a name....

The Duchess of Blue​

We simply call her The Duchess.

All of the other chickens run when given the stink eye. The Chocolate Orpington (previous first position bird) and the Australorp (previous second position bird) are the only ones permitted to dine with The Duchess. The Splash Andalusian no longer walks around sounding the alarm about her and has relaxed...

...or just taken to staying out of her way.

No blood was drawn, or feathers lost for which I am very thankful!
