BYC Café

Good morning everyone. Yummy coffee. We have gotten rain finally! It is a nice slow soaking rain. Rained all day yesterday and it looks like it intends to continue raining today. 2 inches so far

we really needed it.

Calves got out this morning. Acres and acres of knee high prairie grass to chew on and they decide my yard looks tasty.

At least I do not have too much growing in the garden yet. A couple years ago they walked past haybales and tall grass green grass just to eat my strawberry plants. Ate the whole plant roots and all.

of course they got out.......look at that gate!!!

same thing with goats......they only eat the leaves on the trees I'm trying to grow.....walk past the feed shed, and haybales to get to my lemon, or avocado trees......

Lol that isn't a gate, that was something DH and I were experimenting with, with the chicken tractor, they walked right through the electric fence though.

it sure looks like a gate to me........

and yep, an electric fence is only a suggestion for cows........lol

I agree, just a suggestion to them. I once watched a two year old calf easily clear a 4 ft tall barbed wire fence just to eat the pears off my tree. Just flew over easy peasy like its dad was a deer.

Sorry they are grazing on your yard, but I love the pic!

ya'll breed them funny in Nebraska.......lol

just about any kind of fence is just a suggestion to cows........

true story......growing up, we never had any bulls, but every year, we sold and butchered calves from our cows........

but now that I think on it.......there were sure lots of splices in our fence line.....

Morning! Hope there is still some coffee left... cold, foggy and lightly snowing. Heavy frost on the vehicles. So, I had a moment this AM where I got to act like a grownup too. I went out to DH's car and started it for him so that the major frost would have time to thaw before he got out there to leave. I didn't get a thank you, I got a, "Did you start the car?" confused and bewildered DH. I could have said any number of things to mess with him, but I said "Yes."
On the positive side of things, DS# is feeling much better on the meds for the c. diff. No more stomach cramps or the other yuck, which shall not be named..... LOL!
Gonna need a fair bit of coffee!

never thought about it until I got older........when I asked about it, I was told, most times the bull came through on his own........other times he was encouraged..........no other information to be had on it.......I grew up learning allot about fence splicing.......
