BYC Café

Good day all! Happy 4th.

Welcome Andrea. Glad you all caught the bird. Funny what a few beers can make people do. Here, hold my beer and watch this. :D

I see some beer in my future this afternoon, but the coffee is awesome right now.

Just chiming in on how offering some beer sure does work to get people to offer you some help!! I had a small cookout yesterday and after a few beers, I was able to wrangle 3 people to come help me get my lost chicken out of some very terrible woods, thickets. 1 of the people was even wearing a skirt haha. We sure did catch her too.
BTW, I'm Andrea from upstate NY. I am an animal lover. I have 3 dogs, 3 cats and 10 pullets.
Hi Andrea and welcome to the café. Grab a cup and relax before you get your day started. Glad you retrieved your chicken.

The bad news is that I am suffering with bleacher back today. The good news is that I caught the darn mouse that invaded our candy drawer. :yesss:

:hugs for the sore back
:yesss: for the mouse. Playmate for Scaredy?? Nah, i hope you permanently "relocated" said candy thief.

Scaredy periodically leaves a dead deer mouse by my truck - as a present ? This critter was a house mouse, and sign was also located in the spare bedroom. I presently have 8 traps set.

'My' crows have fledged this years brood - 4. Add the parents and 3 survivors from last year, and the flock is now 9 strong. Hopefully West Nile will not deplete them. I think that 2 of last years young died of West Nile.

I've got a mouse giving me a hard time. I've been setting sticky traps in his usual places but he just moves them and carries on . Guess I'll have to find a way to stabilize it somehow. Surely I can out smart a mouse?

Maybe try bucket traps? I read those work pretty well and are supposed to be more humane and stuff.

You just take a 5 gallon bucket and put a dowel across the opening and they fall in. I think some put a can on the dowel? More slippery. And some put peanut butter on the can to tempt them. And I think some put a few inches water in the bottor or cheerios on the water. They try to eat and fall in and can't get out. Oh and I think you also have to provide some sort or "ramp" or stairs to get up to the bucket, a small piece of wood works fine. And even a smart mouse (yours sounds very very smart!!!) can't outsmart it, at least theoretically, because it happens so fast. They try to eat, a necessity for all animals, and then they fall in. And actually I remembered: some people do no water and just release the mice elsewhere after catching, other people do water and drown them
