It's hot already today, not sure how much work I will get done. But the zucchini is looking great being watered with duck soup.lol.
I can almost smell the bread
Gotta pull weeds where I planted the corn cuz I think that is all that took root
The thermometer says 105 F. Thinking a pot of ice coffee for lunch again it goes well with the hot coffee.

Ok I think my plans may have changed. Been reading posts on flystrike and I think 4 of my ladies will be going to the spa today! It is not like they will get chilled when I bring them back outside. I have one that no matter what she eats her bum is just always nasty. She gets a bath and the next day there is no evidence a bath ever happened! She is the one in my avitar with my dog that thinks she is a cat. Time for hot coffee I am not diving into poo water without it.

Frankie had a blast at the dog park. He's had his bath and a snack. He was attacked by a Samoyed so we left, the owner just stood there and watched. Jackass. Fortunately Frank wasn't hurt.

Glad to hear he's okay! We took Libby to a dog park once and there was this dog there that kept going after every dog so we left. At first we were the only ones there then this gentle older dog came in and then eventually there were like 9? And this one charged every new one. Didn't necessarily full on attack but ran up, tried to snag their legs, and also chased some around and barked and just generally was mean. We left when he went afger a goldendoodle. Chased it, slammed it into the trash cans (which I think was an accident cause he slammed into them too but still), chased it around the benches several times, then tried to bite it's leg which is what it was doing to every dog and the poor dog had to jump on the bench to get away. This other woman left too because they had a sweet Yellow Lab and 2 kids. The kids were older but that dog was still dangerous. When we got to the car she wad like are you leaving for the same reasob we are? And we were like yup.

The owner was some young guy and then his girlfriend came later. And they literally were just like "Charlie chill"/let's chill out, and would grab him and hold him. (Not actually hold him, too big, some sort of weimeraner or pit, lab or Chesapeake, something mix? Brown/chocolate color, but hold him still/in place) then just let him go. I don't even know if they were even aware or maybe thought he just played rough but he growled a few times too. Also at first my brother and FSIL thought Libby was the instigator or being annoying but then we realized he was doing it to every dog. And they did nothing. Maybe even thought it wasn't a big deal. They also said that apparently he got attacked by a German Shepherd and was now skittish? But if you saw this dog, he did not look skittish. He charged towards them, tail up. Not how a scared dog acts. Now, sometimes dogs can become dog aggressive after attacks, sure, but the story didn't add up and they weren't doing anything to help him.

OH! And they said they kept bringing him cause he "needs the socialization"?? And they didn't want to take him away or go grab him/oull him away every time cause then he wouldn't learn how to behave? That could make sense except that dog parks are horrible places for socialization to begin with and by not correcting that behavior they are encouraging it and teaching him it's acceptable thus making it worse.

OH! And there was a guy with a baby/toddler on his shoulders standing outside the park (not related to the other family) and the dog literally ran up to the fence at one point and starting barking at it! Like, standing there, barking at them. The owners literally laughed and I think just went over and got him or said stop or something.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean for this to turn into me bashing the owner's because I'm sure they mean well and the average person usually doesn't know much about dogs or dog behavior but because I do, it really annoyed me. Even if I didn't know, it's common sense to not think aggression is funny? Idk. Maybe they didn't interpret it as aggressive and maybe it's not but if it's not corrected, it could be. Clueless owners just annoy me to no end. What that dog needs is a professional trainer before he becomes a dangerous liability and hurts a dog or small child.

Same. And many dog trainers are highly against them.

After that incident, we decided we wouldn't go back which is a shame but FSIL is afraid to take her by herself now in case another aggressive dog is there, she wouldn't be able to break it up. And they don't want me going. They were hoping I could take her sometimes but now we realized it's not safe.

I agree about dog parks. And dog owners. I think if you are going to get a pet of any kind you should research behavior, feeding and housing as well as training.

I have chickens have had for years I love them but I read about breeds behaviors housing and nutritional needs then got some and figured out how to spoil them without ruining them if you know what I mean.

Now I am behind the curve on the ducks I looked into them years ago and knew Muscovy was the breed I wanted so when dangled in my face I just had to tell DH "it was a God thing . " but I have spent a huge amount of time trying to learn behavior and language I think dog owners should do the same. I also think they should have to prove vaccinations especially for parvo and rabies before they can let the dogs loose in the park. But that is my Kootie brain.

Sorry to hear that your puppy loves fun was spoiled.

Ok so I came inside to make a fresh pot of coffee to do the dodo feather thing, , DH was on break. He works from home. So I told him poopy feathers might lead to flystrike I am going to wash butts today! DH said eewwww. I sent you a couple emails. Look at those and wait on the poo butts until after you make my lunch please. I thought Then I checked my email DH has regained his title as loving husband. It appears he found some Silkie chickens to be friends with Hairy-et. So, now I thought So I will do poopy bums after his lunch break

Exactly!! I always do tons of research on every animal I've added, even fish, and try to take care of them as best I can, and dogs should be no different. I've also researched many breeds and determined they weren't right for me because I don't have time to meet their needs as much as I want one while there are people just running out to buy those breeds because they are cute or popular or whatever. For example, huskies, border collies, shepherds, any herding breed, etc. I'd love a husky but they need so much exercise. Now, I probably could meet it because I'm going to start hiking and biking soon and we have lots of places to go but if I couldn't, it wouldn't be fair. Plus I want my next dog to be easily trainable. Done with stubborn dogs for now. Now, Border Collies especially aren't right for me because they are also extremely smart and can be slightly neurotic, at least Huskies are mostly just physical exercise needs. But anyway, I probably could be a good owner to one of those breeds and we could make do because I love dogs and I love training and I am very involved with my dogs but I purposely made a choice not to get one because I knew I wouldn't be able to give 100% and that wouldn't be fair to the dog. I wish everyone thought like that instead of just saying that dog is so cute/pretty/whatever, I need one now and being selfish. Especially when the dog ends up locked in a crate all day or rehomed.

Not entirely relevant to the conversation but another thing that annoys me.

Back to the conversation though, I love animals and also love psychology and majored in behavioral science (planning to go back to get a bachelor's) so for me, behavior/why animals (or people) do things, training, etc. Is fun and interesting and I want to be a dog trainer so over the years I have done extensive research on all of it and read many articles, watched videos, books, etc. Including a few videos and articles specifically about dog behavior and stress signals and stuff like that so I'd like to think I know a pretty decent amount now. I don't expect everybody to learn as much as I have, obviously, because this is just fun for me, but I do think watching a video or two on dog behavior or learning a bit about training should be required material for owning a dog. And so many times people think that something the dog is doing is adorable or whatever and it almost pains me to watch it because a lot of the times what the dog is doing is either extremely dangerous and not a "cute" or "friendly" behavior or the dog is tolerating it but is clearly so completely stressed out/in distress. So I repeat: I wish people learned more about dog behavior before getting them.

Oh and this park was really good and you have to register with the town and get a pass so I think shots are required

My daughter takes Layla all the time and hasn't ever had a problem
I think dog parks can be great provided people vaccinate, have their dogs under control, and if dogs start young it can be a very good socialization tool. Even so, there are bound to be issues.
Not all humans like each other either so I can forgive the dog. He did what dogs do. His human, not so much. We only go once a week or so, otherwise we walk at a different park or around our neighborhood so maybe we'll try a different park next time.
Honestly, Frank is the dog that wants to play with EVERYONE. Human, dog, it makes no difference. He's not mean though and if other dogs don't want to play he'll leave them alone, but definitely try again.
I 100% agree that people should know what they're dealing with when they select a dog. We are very experienced dog owners but we still did a ton of research before we decided on a bully breed.
Too bad they don't come with a disclosure about what foods give them gas though good gracious
