.So sorry Sour and Sean - mothers are the glue that hold families together. Everything went downhill when my mom passed. She died a week after my birthday in 1996.
My dad passed 12 days before my birthday in 2009

Sorry Sean. My Mom is still alive but she can't remember what she said 3 minutes ago. So sad. But she enjoys my yorkie every day.
Can't "like" that Cap. My grandmother had Alzheimers, for about 15 years before she passed at 102 yrs. ....couldn't recognize anyone, not even her only son. So sad.

My father had dementia (I guess they don't know if it's Alzheimers unless they do an autopsy. But,he didn't know had a wife,a son, daughters. Which means he was nice to me then. He had a lot of head injuries before hand because he was totally reckless. Had pneumonia many times and then nursing home would call and say he recovered. He recovered so many times we thought he would do it again. But the last one WAS the last one. So it came as a real shock. The doctor said they forget how to swallow so keep getting aspiration pneumonia. He still held on till he was 90.

So sorry Sean:hit My grandmother died at 70 from hardening of the arteries - what they called it back then. I think it was from all the chicken smaltz(can't spell it right)-rendered chicken fat that was used in almost any dish. Boy, her meals sure tasted great though.
Yep, my grandmother would use bacon drippings for almost everything....and yep, sure was good!
