Thanks for the coffee!

It is cold and windy here...for Woodland California that is!

:wee The fire that destroyed Paradise, California is out! The rain put the fire out.

84 dead though
Fire is the greatest threat here. Most years we get a few break out.
So we’ve been lucky. There are fire watch towers all over the park and water planes on standby. Lots of things you can’t do in the summer. Nobody uses a chainsaw in the hottest months for example.
Of course, no insurance company will adequately cover you for fire here.
That’s a shocking death toll and the damage must be heart breaking.

It makes sense! California has a Mediterranean climate like Spain.

This fire moved at 30 minutes to go 6.5 miles

My folks lived in a few places in that area that are totally gone now. Sad, but mismanagement will make a bad situation worse.

The real problem is climate change sadly. This is the continuation of the same process that is causing the worse storms on the East Coast and etc.

You did read about how fast the Fire moved? Management did not make that happen suddenly. Climate change did it.

We need to watch that part! A lot of dedicated and professional people work on Wild land management.

I do not want to get political but will say that There is a tendency to blame the victim which is terrible. "Someone" with little understanding wants to blame anything but climate change...even with a report that says it is the cause!
