BYC Café

I've never quite understood this fried foods business.
Isn't it what you fry the food in that's important? Olive oil as opposed to animal fat for example.

Not all fats are the same that's for sure. I think things need to be in moderation, switch up the fat used based on the application. I keep bacon fat and lard on hand as well as a couple different oils and butter.

Everyone make it a great day! :celebrate

She has been here and I hope she keeps dropping in. Why do you say "take cover"?
I wrote take cover because here and one or two other places are imo pleasant and tolerant people. The same can't always be said for the rest of the site. So for me at least this and the Pond are places I can go and chat to people who may not agree with me and who I may not always agree with, without anyone getting hysterical or rude. That's quite a hard thing to find on the Internet.

Gotcha ;)

I was just hoping DobieLover would find BYC Cafe a good place to take cover from the general forums.
That it is.
Thanks for the mug o' coffee Shad. I'll take it with me. Off to run the dogs before the temp gets above freezing and they get covered in mud.

We're supposed to get all the way up to 23* today...that's pretty exciting!

@DobieLover when you get a minute, tell us about your other dogs. I thought Ben was your one & only.
I have 3. I've owned Dobermans since 1995. I've had 5 total. All rescues. I've had as many as 3 at once. I got hooked on the breed with my first girl who was my jogging partner.
They suffer from dilated cardiomyopathy more than all other breeds combined and that is how I lost 3 of them. The first male I had that died from it was heart wrenching. To honor his memory and try to recover from the loss I joined a miniature pinscher rescue to do transports and foster dogs. I was never a fan of little dogs. Always called them ankle biters. Until my first foster. I've never seen so much personality stuffed in such a small package.
I found a wonderful home for the first girl then got the second on the end leg of a 7 hour transport. I knew on the way home I'd keep her and I still have her. Fuji. Short for fugitive. She owns that name.

I lost my father very unexpectedly a little over a year ago. Hence my struggles with 2018. I took one of his dogs, a little rat terrier mix named Skittles. I've got the boys out running with me now.
