Exactly!! Then they blame the dog when it eats the house or sofa.

Wow! That little one can run 6 miles!? So cute. And is Benny a blue? I figured he was Black and Tan from the other pictures but his face looks somewhat blue here.
Ben is blue.
Skittles is 10.5 years old and bounces around like he's on a pogo stick too. He is on heart meds for a murmur and occasional cough but other than that you'd never guess his age.

Ah okay, so is he a darker blue then? Or is that a common shade?

And wow!! Definitely wouldn’t have guessed he was so old lol he looks way younger.

And aw the freckles are so cute!! Is that common?

Ben is a darker blue. His coat didn't start to thin until around 4. My fawn girl was practically bald at 4!
The freckles are all Ben. His fat tumors are all Doberman. He has about 12.

I love the Doberman as a breed but my heart belongs to herding dogs... brought the first Lakenios to America but he lived with the co owner I had small dogs also had Tervuren epilepsy in all variety's going back to the Belgian beginnings knock on wood I never dropped on with it but studied awful hard not too

All tired out from a long day of doing... NOTHING!!
They did not help shovel the snow, tend to the chickens or prepare food. All they did was eat, sleep and pee. Loafers.
We are down to 8 degrees and dropping. Brrrr!

At least you have dog bodies to keep you warm! :D

Wow interesting! Never realized their coats thinned out as they got older or about the fat tumors

I love the Belgian Shepherds, they really are a great breed

That is awful. :( I have never understood why people get a dog, any dog, and never pay attention to it or exercise it or anything but especially the working and sporting breeds!! Those breeds need so much exercise and training and people just get them and stick them in a yard. And then half the time, they wonder why the dog is crazy, unruly, a terror, whatever, and rehome it. Usually right in the teenage phase, 6 months, 1 year, 18 months, or sometimes slightly older, like 2 or 3, I think I read somewhere most of the dogs in shelters are under 3. Sad. People don’t realize they grow out of that teenage phase eventually but also that in order to grow out of it, they need exercise and training. Stuck in a crate or the backyard all day, of course they’re gonna be crazy. But people don’t want to put in the work to have a trained, happy dog and/or they just plain don’t want it anymore when it gets too big and no longer “cute” anymore and just give up on it. Not that these people have, at least they still have them, and at least the dogs have each other to play with so they’re not totally unexercised but still. They want so much more. I see so many people never taking their dogs for walks or never letting them run around or whatever. And I can see if you are really busy or maybe can’t walk due to a disability or age or something, but there’s plenty of people who can and just don’t, and there are also plenty of other ways to exercise and/or tire a dog out. I knew someone with a Border Collie once that they said was a great dog but she was always crazy when they got home. Yeah... cause you kept her locked in a crate all day while you and the kids were at work or school. Of course she was crazy once released. But at least they kept her. Knew someone else with a Border Collie who would just let it out into the fenced pool area and let it run laps around the pool by itself for hours. At least the dog was being exercised so that’s not quite as bad but still. Huskies too. Seen sooo many people get working dogs then be surprised when the dog isn’t just magically well behaved and actually needs quite a lot of exercise and training. I feel like this is especially true lately because people just get the really popular breeds, like Border Collies and Huskies, the ones they see all over Instagram and YouTube and on TV, because they are super smart or they are gorgeous and fluffy, and they want a dog just like that, not realizing the dogs aren’t born perfect. Corgis and Shiba Indus are another extremely popular one recently due to all the memes and stuff. Corgis are great dogs but I don’t think people realize they are actually herding breeds that need exercise and not just cute, fat, fluff balls (and they’re not even supposed to be as fat as most I see). And Shibas are definitely not for everybody, actually can be quite standoffish and hard to train and stubborn and not the cute, super cuddly, fluffy things people think they will be when they see a picture or meme of one. So many nice breeds end up in the wrong hands or ruined because of their popularity and it is really sad. Much like Dalmatians with 101 Dalmatians except now it is way easier for breeds to become popular instantaneously with social media, which is unfortunate for many breeds. I just hope the Belgian Malinois is not next because they are truly a beautiful, extremely intelligent breed. So far they seem to not be too affected though and I have not seen too many in need of new homes. I was worried when that movie Max came out and then the subsequent sequel. There are also a couple extremely popular/famous Malinois on YouTube that are awesome, extremely well trained, can do all sorts of amazing tricks, etc. and I have seen some people in the comments be like I am getting a Malinois because of (dogs name) or I really want a Malinois because of you and I always cringe a little bit when I read those because I don’t think people really know what they are getting themselves into. Same thing on Husky YouTubers and most other breeds. But so far the Malinois seems to have not been too affected yet. Perhaps because they are harder to come by and a lot of the reputable breeders won’t just give them out, unlike Huskies or whatever which you can buy at just about any pet store. But I do always worry about them and other breeds especially because there are a lot of awesome clips of the military dogs too. But they do not get like that overnight and are a very challenging breed. But anyway, sorry for the novel and the fact that this kind of turned into a bit of a rant, whoops  sorry
I had to catch my breath after reading this post it was so long. You are probably napping now to restore your energy. ;)
But I agree with every word.
I'm often asked if I breed Dobermans to which I always reply, " no, I just rescue them".

Just the dilutes thin. It's called CDA, color dilution alopecia.
The blacks and reds don't.

Yeahhh, I got a bit carried away LOL sorry

And yeah, I thought I wanted to get a purebred dog next, likely a Lab or Golden but now I think I will rescue a dog. There are so many great ones out there.

Just if you choose to get one look deep in the pedigree about 5 generations back

Good idea! Is that because of the epilepsy?

Wow how interesting
