BYC Café

Today was cool and windy with gusts up to 46 MPH. Knocked my mailbox to the ground, mainly because the wooden post must have rotted off below ground. Hey it lasted for nearly 50 years - so there's that. Just the crummy part where I have to dig out the stump- our area was a quarry and you can't dig an inch without hitting one boulder or another. Plus which there is a gas line around that area. Have to call J-U-L-I-E first, they notify the utility companies and they will come out mark their areas with colored flags.

My brother thinks that's the easy part, you just buy a new post and mailbox. Ha, the digging is what drives people mad. I know years ago my father "took out," the neighbors mail box -backing up the car. That poor guy was digging a hole from early am till later in the afternoon and still not finished. My father offered him $ 5. for his trouble. He refused it and just kept muttering under his breath.

Only one or two neighbors farther away, spoke to us. When my father passed, they all did. BTW he also trashed a friend's mailbox on the connected street. Came away with a flat tire and wrecked the alignment. My friend - another neighbor was a mechanic and was trying to get the tire off- had a good crowd watching. :idunno

Afternoon Cafe

A fresh pot has been brewed, help yourselves!
Hope everyone in the East is safe, and ok? That low that came through here is now terrorizing the east coast.
So far so good. I was afraid the power would go out....
