BYC Café

Yeah, she's okay thx N F C.
She isn't a very well liked hen. She seems to upset the rest. She had a difficult start. She is a bantam, but she lives with the Hybrids. She did originally live with Tribe 2 (all bantams) but fell out with Blue Spot over sitting on eggs. Myth sees a pile of eggs and sits. It doesn't matter if they are her eggs or not. Worse still is she is the baby killer.
Anyway, she moved in with her half sister and sometimes roosts with her and at other times roosts with the rest of Tribe 3. Now Blue Spot is gone she's showing signs of moving back in with the bantams. We shall see.
She's got a few feathers ripped out and a couple of cuts on her comb. Gedit who she fought with is not at all vindictive. She makes her point and calls it a day so I'm not expecting any more trouble.

It's tough to be unpopular (but sounds like she instigates it;) ). Seems whenever there is a flock loss or addition, the whole order of things goes through adjustments.

Work is going ok. The restaurant has been busier than last year so that's good. We get the majority of biz from a refinery not far away and last year they were tied up all summer working on safety projects & inspections. Now that's over, the guys can get away for lunch again.

Hi buddy, good to see you! :frow

Good hatch for you too!
Hey Ladybug! Good to see you too. Glad you got a couple days off, sounds like them refinery boys must be glad to have you back cooking up some good meals for 'em!

You know for a semi-rough bunch of cowboys, those guys can be very appreciative for a good meal. Funny, for the most part, they are better behaved than the golfers. Who would have thunk

A kind of funny thing happened a couple of days ago! Hubbs was out puttering around, working on his truck and a few other little odd job things. I looked out the backyard to check on the chickens who were having a recess, and the back gate was swinging wide open! I went out did a head count no rooster. So I rallied him up and started looking for the dang rooster. I called "Ocho, Ocho, Ocho" and I didn't hear him so I wandered back through the woods toward the coop and called again. I heard a faint response kind of far away, I called again, another faint response! Started doing my little echolocation and tracked the sound to the back of the shed.

Now we have a 12 by 32 foot building, lovingly called The Shed. It's full of furniture and belongings that we had left over when we combined our house! And the door is closed. So I called one more time and said "honey the bird is in the shed." So what happened is Ocho must have followed hubs out the gate and walked in the shed behind him when he went to get some tools. He follows both of us like he's a puppy. Hubs didn't even see him and he shut the door on my bird.

Well it was hot in there and that rooster come out like he was about to light on fire! So happy to see his mama! He looked at me and crowed and ran up to me begging to be taken back in the yard where the water was.

It was funny at the time and it still is, but it sure could have gone South in a hurry if we weren't in the habit of doing headcount about every 30 minutes. Hope your weekend goes a little better than Ochos did!

Me, I would've thunk. You know I think golfers are bat crap crazy anyway. I mean, what an "entitled" sport golf is. Give me a sport like rodeo any day. Any sport where the livestock stands a 50/50 chance of winning is a real sport! I'm kinda like my dog when it comes to golf; "if you really want that stupid little ball, then quit smacking it so far away!?!"
ETA: I apologize to any golfers out there who are not bat crap crazy.

Afternoon cafe :frow

I had a nap this afternoon and made fresh coffee.

Went to my folks for strawberry waffles and bacon this morning. Hours passed like minutes but it was so good to see them. I took Frankie through drive thru at the pharmacy after we got home, then the nap. So happy dinner is just a reheat.

Have good evening all
