Treacle had his first fight today. Notch, who just doesn't learn, decided to harass Ruffles and her chick. Treacle stepped up to his job and there were 3 or 4 mid air contacts and both backed away and went about their business.
Ruffles seemed to be impressed and walked back to my house with Treacle who she would normally side step should he try to herd her.
What I find interesting about the fights that go on here is a rooster loosing a fight has never meant he lost his hens. They stick by him. This would seem to make a bit of a nonsense of a dominant rooster getting all the hens and mating opportunities.
In all other respects Notch is a very competent rooster. He gets a bit overexcited when he first comes out in the mornings and his hens tend to wait for him to calm down a bit before they come out of the coop. What he can't seem to do is mind his own business.
He hasn't won a fight for at least a year and Mag, a bantam rooster, makes his life a misery. There's a loot of history there.
I'm hoping the stand off doesn't go to Treacles head and he retaliates when his dad chases him off. Cillinn, Treacles dad would seem from attitude to be the most mellow rooster here but he's fought all the other roosters and none bother him anymore.
Ruffles and Mel have been bickering a bit. They've been fine until the last couple of days.
I think htis has something to do with Ruffles planning on going home with her chick. Once back with the tribe she'll want her old position back and Mel, being Ruffles daughter is the next below in the hierarchy and also gradually heading home.

Morning Caff. Thanks for the coffee, Shad. Have now caught up on my reading. Hope all you northerners had a great day. Saturday is shaping up wet here. Best news we've had in months!
Did the weather keep it's promise?
It looked like we were going to get some more rain today, it never materialized and mid day temperatures were up in the eighties in the sun.

It poured all night. Not enough to break the drought or put out the fires but it will green things up a bit, maybe fill a dam or 2 & hopefully more is on the way.

Welcome to the International web.
It's 22.20 here.

Very true! It’s awesome though. Previously never would have been possible to talk to so many different people from so many different places.

And it’s 10:00 and you still haven’t eaten yet!? :ep :th

Now that does confuse me...:lau Why does Europe use military time?

I think it’s 10pm lol

And right!?
