Good morning, Cafe.

Update on Ben. He is still dragging his front feet and has a somewhat unsteady gait. I think all legs are affected so if this is spinal cord impingement (which I am 99% certain it is) it's in the cervical region. And because he's suffered no traumatic injury, it's due to degenerative disc disease and a ruptured disc. I can only hope that the prednisone ultimately knocks the swelling down enough to relieve the symptoms. Surgery would cost about $8,000 dollars so that really isn't in the cards for me. And even if it was, what happens when the next disc ruptures? I'm at the "keep him comfortable" stage.
But if he starts to loose bladder and bowel control, I'll have to let him go. He made a huge mess yesterday all the way down the hall, through the kitchen and over to the deck door because he had to pee and didn't ask to go out soon enough. I think that just took him by surprise. He'll now be going out on potty breaks on Fuji's schedule.

Dobie :hugs

@DobieLover - keep an eye on him, and do what needs to be done. I've had several dogs with the problem over the years and have not had great success with the surgery even in younger dogs. Your decision is the logical and kind one if his condition worsens. :hugs
