BYC Café

This was this morning. Mel has taken to bringing her chicks in and sitting by me while I'm on the computer.
I don't know what they are, but they're growing.:D

This is where Donk ahd her nest. On the other side of the fence is about two foot of relatively level bank and then it drops away at about 30 degrees from horizontal.
Thankfully the rain had turned to drizzle View attachment 1934514

This is where she goes in. She about 3 foot in. I can't follow her through there. Normally once they get the other side of the fence, even if you've followed them, they just disappear in that lot.View attachment 1934515

I got her! She hates me.:hit

It is in fact the thing I most dislike doing to hens. If I could I would let them all sit. I just can't feed and house more than I do.

Little Donk's heart was beating madly. I worry about their hearts when I move them like this. I could have left her out overnight, but we have a fox around at night atm; plus it must be pretty miserable sitting out in the pouring rain trying to keep the eggs dry and warm. I didn't risk a picture of Donk on the nest. There is always the chance that the hens moves deeper into the undergrowth and is then fully out of broody trance. I've lost one for the night before by messing about when I should have secured the hen as soon as the nest is exposed. Nice tidy nest.:cool:View attachment 1934516

Here she is. Slightly damp. That's big Gedit on her right.View attachment 1934519

Happy to know you've made it home in one piece Shad!

Wow. She's a cluey one!

My whole family are sailors. Could sail pretty much before I could walk. My brother has lived aboard a 50' cat for 25 years & cruised throughout Asia. Not for me. I'm allergic to salt water.:gig That looks lovely. Glad you had a good time.

Sounds amazing!!

:) It depends on who you ask. My brother & his family loved it ~ obviously. My mum, who visited, was way less enthusiastic. A lot of Asia is very dirty, including the oceans, beaches & waterways. Put her right off. :D
