Good morning Cafe.
Thanks for the coffee. I brewed a pot of the maple coffee on the side and left a small dispenser of my extra thick pure maple syrup if anyone wants to give it a try.
My walkway project was going really well. I needed two loads of fill and one of pea stone and had about 3.5 hours to get it. I was in the truck on my way back to the gravel pit with 12 minutes to get there before the gate closed. There is a sign stating they won't let you on the scale past 10 minutes before closing. So I called the woman who was running the scales and told her who I was and that I was already tared in and was self serving under the pea stone hopper and would you please hold the gate for me. She did. I was in the office 5 minutes after closing. I told her how thankful I was for her waiting for me and gave her a $5 tip. She had a pleasantly surprised look on her face and said "You didn't have to do that" and I said "You didn't either".
Once home, I took a quick shower and we headed off to the Apple Dumping Cafe for brunch. The phone GPS display read "the Apple Dumpling Cafe may be closed on your arrival". So I did a little Indy 500 driving and got us there about 10 before they stopped serving. The place was packed but they let us in. The food was incredible. I haven't eaten bread in over 1.5 years. The bread there is made from scratch and baked fresh. I had an open face apple and cheese sandwich and DH had a fresh BLT on toasted bread. We shared each others plates. It was a beautiful day.
Then I went for the plate compactor. They are open until 5:00 on Saturdays. I arrived at 4:45. The neon "OPEN" sign in the door was on. The lady was at the counter. I told her "I need that plate compactor I rented last week". She said "We're closed". I said "but you're right here, the sign says you're open, your website says your open..." She told me all the guys left at 4:30 and the plate compactors were out that day and hadn't been serviced yet. I couldn't believe it. I had no choice but to leave. DH has hernias and she looked like a very unfit late 60's woman who doesn't see a lot of activity. So I am going to be scrambling to try to get the walkway finished on Thursday. Weather permitting.
