I'll take a cup. I have night chores too. I found a bit of blood in the coop this morning. Where Fabio was perched on the edge of the poop board last night very near Captain and on the roost that I moved Fabio to. He must have been going after Cap at roost time and either broke off a nail, broke another toe or maybe damaged a pin feather in his leg.
My day is just starting up & I have a coop to clean.

It's stuff like that I've found Stockholme Hoof Tar works really well on. Not a lot you can do with ripped out nails, or even the back toe which is what they often injure here.

I had the coop built so all I have to do is rake the mulch straight into the coop run, then all I have to do is replace the mulch under the roosts. I do a deep clean about twice a year but every other day I do a quick changeover. It only takes this long because I have *help*.
It helps I live in a climate that doesn't necessitate a lot of extras for winter.
The big coops (relatively speaking) take about fifteen minutes to do a full anti parasite clean here. I've got seven occupied coops atm. The maternity units which don't have perches need doing every couple of days.10~15 minutes.
Sounds good. I didn't want cleaning to become a PITA so I insisted everything be as accessible as possible & as easy as possible. My rake will reach my back wall without me actually having to get into the coop itself. My only real beef is I can't stand upright ~ which all chicken owners know is a real pain if you have to deal with a chicken but space restrictions & height restrictions meant we had to choose one of 2 evils. I went with a completely open front & elevated so the girls could use the space underneath. I have had to put a curtain up to deal with some of the winter weather [I do have doors we just never hung them & I'm not sure we need them.] but the girls can self regulate & that's good on days we are pushed for time & boats.
