BYC Café

Have at @007Sean and @Shadrach.
There's plenty for you.
DH and I enjoyed dinner in our jammies and we won't judge you if you want to do the same... provided you don't sleep in the buff!

We are having Turkey, but if I could I would cook the coon and feed it to the chickens. I have skinned it, and hope to tan the hide. I was going to use the brain method, but when hubby shot the coon, the bullet went in the eye and messed up the brain. Not much left. So I have the pelt soaking in brine until i can finish defleshing the hide.
You might want to take it out of the brine. Just plain salt on the flesh side, rolled up and put in a refrigerator for a few days until you flesh the hide.
A brine solution is ok for soaking "flint' hides in but not good for fresh hides.

Ok, thanks for the info. Will do.

Wow there’s a lot of food in the cafe today! :wee

When I was growing up thanksgivings were manic, mad rushing, sweating, slaving rituals crammed with tons of people.

When DH & I got married thanksgiving became very casual. We’d laze around & eat pie in our pjs & eat dinner at dinner time. Occasionally someone who drop by.

The first year that my parents decided they were too old to host thanksgiving & came down to my place, my dad was on the verge of a heart attack all day. Why wasn’t I running around like a mad woman, sweating & slaving? Why was I playing with my kids & why were we going to eat dinner at 6:00 at night? ... It was a tough day for him. When I stopped everything & sat down with pie & a cup of coffee in the middle of the afternoon he nearly dropped dead. :lau My house became legendary after that. They told everybody in my family about it & all my nieces & nephews decided they wanted to have thanksgiving at my house.
:gigThanksgivings are still very casual here. There’s a lot of cooking to be done, but also a lot of time for relaxing & messing around. I’ve already eaten the pie.

be safe out this weekend everyone & congrats Shad on the big sale! :yesss::clap:celebrate
Thanks giving has never been hectic in my Family. Maybe it is an Irish thing but we do not stress about it at all and there is usually some type of beverage to help too!

Just got back from a great afternoon at my daughter's. All three grand children were there, and older grandson brought up the 'De brie, de Brie' as well as the 'Spirit of Michael Jackson'.

I miss him...

I understand. :hugs We miss Dani. She would always go with us when we went to our daughters house and then be reluctant to leave.

Are you a vegetarian Mr sourland?

No way. I am an omnivore with very strong carnivorous tendencies. Vegetables were just my portion of the feast.

@Shadrach - well done. Apparently advertising pays off.
