BYC Café

Hi all, I made a fresh pot of coffee if anyone needs it.

Thank you IM, just what I needed, more coffee! As I said yesterday, love that picture you posted above...Casanova sounds like a real good guy.

Fort Cluck, in my first flock I had a few Black Australorp girls that were so horrible to the rest of the birds. I found someone that told me they would work in well with their flock so I let her have them. Once they were gone, it was amazing how much more enjoyable it was to spend time with my flock and they were so much calmer. As for the person that took the BA's, last time I saw them they were in their own coop/run because they didn't fit in well with that flock either. Little trouble makers!

I know that Jersey Giants are usually pretty calm and mellow, but Sid was just a handful! He was just really high strong and always wanted to fight something. When 'squatch would mate with the girls, Sid would stand there and stomp on their heads or pick them... That's not okay to me.

The flock has been really mellow and calm since he has been gone. It's nice to be able to walk into the run without getting attacked or having him stalk me. I had to walk backwards or he would attack me and it's not like he was a small rooster, he was about 10 lbs.

Morning, café! Thanks for the coffee, IM. That's a beautiful boy you have there!

What's with the run on dogs, @Shadrach ? Too bad no one is willing to help you out so you can get to work on your project. People can be so unreliable.

My husband and I changed the flail teeth on the bale processor last night...that was a chore. A couple hours, a couple blood blisters and a smashed thumb later we were done  But! No squabbling. So that was good :p

Hope everyone has a lovely day. Supposed to be 50° on Saturday. We might get lucky and have a brown Christmas after all!

Thank you, sorry you're getting repeats!

BRRRRR. I couldn't do it!

Thank you DL, yes I am :loveI also have a Dorking/Red Ranger roo I'm hoping to keep for a similar mix of girls from my last hatch.
Chicken Dinner!

What is wrong with people?!
We had everything all set up to meet Kyro this Friday. Shadow's owners also took time off to combine seeing a car in NJ with being able to meet Kyro as well to make sure he got along with Shadow.
I just got a call from Kyro's owners. The husband allowed a couple from Long Island to adopt him.
His wife is mad at him because she thought I was a better fit for him. She's right!
What ever happened to common decency? The right thing to do would have been to go through with my meet and greet and THEN make a decision. I had scheduled the meeting first before this other couple contacted them.
My take home lesson is this: if I see any dog that looks like a good fit, I'm going to see it ASAP.
