BYC Café

My brother had to have a stent put in last Tuesday. He is stoic like Sean. Takes the hand that is dealt to him and keeps on trucking. I think that expression is too old for a youngster like Sean to have heard. But he surely lives it.

Brother had to stay overnight because of some minor bleeding. But then Sunday he was hollering at me like always so I know he's back to normal.

Good afternoon, Cafe. Made a fresh pot if anyone needs a warm-up.

Glad your brother is doing okay, Nancy!

Just heard someone in a town about 1.5hrs from us is being held and tested for coronavirus. And the flu is going around. Would like to hole up at home and wait this one out!

I work in our local school district and the elementary kids were dropping like flies today. (Our total K-12 population is just over 400 kids, all in the same building.) I saw one 5th grade teacher in the hall with about 10 kids - roughly half his class. There are 32 kids in 6th grade. Two didn’t come, and three more that I know of went home today. I think it’s a stomach virus going around mostly, but I have heard of a couple of cases of influenza, so who knows? Anyway, I’m thinking it’s time to invest in a hazmat suit.

Hope the rattle isn't an earthquake ron.
It was the wind blowing something over. Power was knocked out in the Bay area from the wind from Saturday night to Sunday

A lot of people call norovirus the flu. Norovirus is very infectious

Yes they do and yes it is. I don’t know what kind of bug it is. The influenza I’m referring to is the respiratory one. We had influenza B going around right before Christmas break. Now people are out with influenza A.

It is a bad year for both influenza and norovirus!

If they have vomiting and diahrea it is likely norovirus or food poisoning. Influenza can have vomiting as the fever goes up rapidly but is not a primary symptom

Yes, most likely Norovirus for the stomach bug. One of our 5th graders was out for over a week with Influenza A, which turned into (or caused, however you want to put it) pneumonia. Anyway, there’s lots of yuck going around.

That is so true!
