Potato soup is very fast on the stove so I do note make it in the instant pot.

I so have a very rich recipe for potato cheddar soup. This tastes like a bake potato bar:

Loaded Potato Soup

8 ounces (1/2 of a 1-pound package) Bacon, diced

1# russet potatoes
1 large onion, chopped (about 1 cup)
1 cloves garlic
Salt and pepper to taste(layer salt in the recipe- add some now, when adding stock and at the end—A pinch at first and then to taste at the end)
1 to 2 cups cream(need to have fat content--lower fat milk products will curdle in the heat)
Chicken stock to cover potatoes in pot
1/2 cup cheddar cheese
3 green onions or fresh chives, chopped

Instructions:

1. Cook the bacon in a 4-quart saucepan over medium heat until crisp, stirring often. Remove the bacon from the saucepan and drain on paper towels. Pour off all but 2 tablespoons drippings.

2. Add the potatoes and onions to the saucepan, season with salt and black pepper and cook for 5 minutes or until the vegetables are tender-crisp, stirring occasionally. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.

3. Stir in the cream, add chicken stock to cover the potatoes and heat to a boil. Reduce the heat to low. Cover and cook for 20 minutes or until the potatoes are tender, stirring occasionally. Stir in half the bacon and half the cheese. Top with the remaining bacon, remaining cheese and the green onions before serving.
Great recipe, sounds good. All I would add, is a grilled cheese sandwich as a side dish.

Here we go. Oddly emotional thing.
We received that message from our governor a day or two ago. I think they are getting ahead of the president saying the federal government is going to be turning the decision over to a state by state, county by county basis, to be made by the governors. I suspect most governors are going to keep the quarantine on to a great degree until they see a light at the end of the tunnel. I know we are just now starting a 2 week quarantine in Washington, but not different than it has been for the last 2 weeks. All essential services still open.
I hope he says the sun will be rising from the west to east, from now on! As I said this morning.
I think that's part of the thinking when they are saying we wont exist in 12 years. :lau

This is what I planted
Do you use the tires to make raised beds due to poor spoil or so you don't have to get down to ground level?

A bit chilly overnight; single digits on the plus side of zero.
Celsius of course. I'm surprised it is that cold at this time of year. What is your elevation?

The downside is that I can no longer find excuses to procrastinate over cleaning out the shed :hit
Procrastinate enough days and being housebound will get so boring that you'll do almost ANYTHING to get out :D

Thought this was an interesting article on the grocery hoarding (or not so much) that has been going on, among other things:
I can see how that applies to people in overcrowded big cities. Doesn't make sense in a lot of places in the USA where the homes are bigger, the refrigerators are bigger and there are fewer people per square mile. The "just in time" production stream does make a lot of sense though. And maybe my family is just weird but we don't eat out even once a month so weekly grocery shopping is standard.

This part bothered me, isn't the isolation period supposed to be 14 days?
"This month, the government advised those with coronavirus symptoms to spend seven days at home “self-isolating.”"

I hope the meetings end early so I can get lunch!
I think lunch should have been at 11 AM for you today Ron.

I think you're right about this. I don't have a big house, but we live out in the country and stocking up is just a convenient way to live, so we keep an upright freezer full all the time. We could easily go for a couple months without shopping, but do we? Nope. Because I'm always trying new recipes and always need something I don't have. Luckily we have a small local store (10 miles from here) that carries most of the basic stuff.
