My work at dad's house was cut rather short today. I drove a splinter under my fingernail and it broke off. I can't get it out and it hurts something awful.
It kind of went in near the edge of my nail so I cut the nail back on the side as far as I could hoping to open up a path for it to come out then packed drawing salve all over it and covered it with a bandage.
It's also hard to type without using that finger...

Soak it in hot water with some soap in it! That will make it fester and come out

Oh jeez. Cringe and goosebumps reading that. I bet that does hurt. Hopefully, the salve will draw it out sooner than later!

Betadine gel is quite good with metal splinters I've found. May be worth a try.

I soaked it for about a minute in alcohol first but the splinter is from plywood.

I get those but thankfully not behind a nail. I should know not to handle ply without gloves on but I still get caught out.
