Good afternoon Cafe!
I actually got out of work on time today and the sun was shining so I decided to bring the dogs down for a quick run. But before I left I booted Kerrie off her nest so she could stretch her legs and get something to eat. I left the door open to the maternity ward.
Walking down in the fields I started to worry that she's maybe not back on the nest.
So I open up the camera app and this is what I find...

Big Daddy checking on his future progeny!
Well done Fabio. It seems to be important for the hens here that their rooster comes by to check on them. Quite a few call for their rooster when they get off the nest for food etc.
For all his bad attitude that's the sort of behaviour I look for in a good rooster.:love

So on March 13 I got my temporary 'new' teeth. Supposed to live with them ten days to two weeks. Well, we are coming up on the 6 week mark because of the state shutdown. Early on the temporary crown broke, and just today part of a temporary veneer came off. If everything bites the bullet, trust me, I will be a snaggle toothed monster. I got a look at myself before he affixed the temporaries :eek:. I could go and get the permanent teeth on an emergency basis, but ----------------------------
I'm in a similar position.:(

Meanwhile wondering why my dental insurance can't give me some kind of rebate. I'll be due for renewal next month. I had ONE dentist appt & work done - on same day as renewal. But I have to make monthly payments to keep the insurance. Dentist is only open for emergencies. Thank goodness I don't have any but still alot of $$$$$ down the drain.
Insurance = legalized extortion.
It's a particularly unpleasant practice over health matters.

And this is exactly why I keep him. His bad attitude is strictly for me. I can deal with that. He is a very good boy with his hens, his chicks and keeping the males in line.

I think it can be a fair exchange but it depends on the situation. Considering I paid $300 per month and my husband has had multiple surgeries, insurance was the cheaper option. Over 16 years I paid $57k for it, less than one of the surgeries by far. If you don't need it then it might be a different story.
