BYC Café

Happy Fathers day includes the mothers that had step in as father often
Morning Cafe rain is back ... Really did fool me on that photo but our go all the way up..
if it flood plane no one would build would they ?
It's a very big parcel. A sizable portion of it is out of the floodplain. That's the part that has the old road and the sewer line going through it.

I'm fighting wasps that come in because the storm windows my father bought (after asking our crooked builder for a recommendation) are a bit too narrow and slip down about a half inch or so - just enough for bees, spiders and wasps to move in. I have one window full of dead bees, I didn't touch them - must have starved too death. Always had the shades pulled down.

My fathers windows(2) are filled with wasps. If the windows were ground level, the wasps would have been dealt with years ago. But they are second floor windows - I'm not dumb enough to climb a ladder that high.

I can only access his windows from inside the house to half way. So I'm been shooting sprays of Sevin thru a very narrow opening. Everything it touches dies, but the stream isn't strong enough to go all the way to inside top where they are coming in (I do not give up) I found a narrow piece off the bamboo fishing rod my father got me as a kid. It fits. Now I am going back to the windows to knock the wasp nests down and flood them with sevin as soon as they land.

In all our years in Chicago never even saw a wasp. I guess that is a bonus for moving to a suburb surrounded by Forest Preserves :yesss: I still love it out here, already 50.5 years here. PS grass got some rain last night - started to green up a bit.

BTW penny my sister far away, told me to rip out the wallpaper in the hallway & kitchen I did just as she said and it ruined the drywall (I think they call it) I think it just adds to the charm of this poor home. My brother sez no one will ever buy it, so I feel a kinship with the house. We have each other from day 1.
