BYC Café

I suspect a lot have got more used it during the lockdown!
I am more worried about your roof now than I was before, if a chicken running across it sounds like a large animal from below! How thick is that ply? and how much soil under the grass? ('not enough' is the answer, methinx ;) ) Or is Able a particularly chunky chicken? :p
Hmm, let me calculate.
There's the ply that 1" marine ply. A coat of water proofing paint. Then the butile sheeting which is 1.5 mm thick. Then there's 80 mm of insulating batts. Then there's the heavy duty poly sheeting. Got drainage board on top of that. The minimum amount of earth is 10".
Each square metre will take a 1700 kilo loading. The donkeys trot across it from time to time.
It's taken the weight of a 360 degree mini digger on boards.
Don't do chunky chickens here. they are all svelte and fit looking. You've been looking at too many BYC pictures.:p

My beloved whole house fan started making ominous squeaking sounds last night.
Or course it's not doing this morning when it's cool enough to ascend into the attic to check it out.
Might be a good idea to spray some lube on all the moving parts.

I'm REALLY glad that I decided to gut to the studs and will have all that nastiness OUT of mom's house.
I bet!

This is one reason I wold not have a tile shower LOL!
Cement board doesn't grow mold :D And it should be painted with a waterproofing sealer before tiling.

One very common comment I get from people who spend a few hours here in my house is they couldn't live here because it's too quiet.
Yep, people from the loud city get used to the noise and can't deal with quiet.

There's a bearing shaft assembly that is wearing out.
Pretty sure that's where the noise is coming from.
Would be easy to change out if part wasn't 70's era from Montgomery Wards.
Doubt any lube will help.

Belt should probably be tightened, tho may cause bearing to fail completely with the extra tension.

I'll run it as is for now, given the temps we have, at least I know I can get up there.

That forecast is hideous!
You can buy a replacement unit and install it after the season is over.

Will they freeze set upside down?
Hmmmm, not sure I've tried.
Cap is pretty tight, have to push plunger up a bit to fill so when cap is applied it has some room to move, but sure wouldn't want it to leak.
Will try it next time :D
This worked just fine @ronott1 !! Not sure WTH I never tried it before, SMH. :D

Yup, have briefly shopped them.
Getting an installer I would allow into my house is an issue(long story).
Would rather try to fix the bearing shaft assembly,
but not taking out to try until it cools off or bearing just fries.
