BYC Café

Who is Max trying to get to lay eggs there?
He's not! He, his brother and sisters hide in the nest boxes when they get driven off the roosts at night. It's a management issue until the pullets start laying and fighting back and feel confident enough to stay out and hold their ground against the heathen horde.

Morning and thanks for the coffee! Hot (relatively speaking) and very dry, smokey, and once in a while, some ash. We had a five-minute rain yesterday. I had to take a neighbor to the emergency room again. She was having chest pains and faintness, etc and she has a blood thickening cancer, so she was worried about floating clots. As it turns out, she is reacting to all of the smoke in the air and it going to see a pulmonary doc today. I did my Sam's run while I was waiting for her to either be admitted or sent home. I found some mats in Sam's that may work for padding the walls of the wresting room, cheaper than anything else so it won't derail the project. Getting a load of gravel today for some patio work up by the lake so I guess that will be the fun for the day. Enjoy the day, Cafe!

Sounds like a busy day! I hope your neighbor will be okay.

Good morning Cafe.
Thanks for the coffee Shad.
Gales here. Portmeirion (the beautiful Italianate village where The Prisoner was filmed) took a real battering

fortunately, no-one was injured because it all happened in the middle of the night.
I would be surprised if many here know about the series The Prisoner. I've been to Portmeirion and it's quite something.

Good evening Cafe.
The clouds rolled in this evening. Much too late to shelter the land from the sun. All that's happened so far is they've trapped the heat and humidity. They say it will rain but I can't smell any.
This type of weather is not what we usually get. Yup, it gets hot. Some July and Augusts we don't get any rain. But, it's dry heat and at night the breeze picks up and it's pleasant outside. When it does rain it hammers down with spectacular storms and 10C gets wiped off the thermometer in minutes. Not had any of that this year. This year and the year before last have been the only years I've been at all concerned about the chickens coping in the heat.
