that's awful, horrid! I didn't know such things were still legal anywhere. What are they intended to catch?
Beaver, otter, fox, fishers
On their own land?
Yes. Doesn't matter. The traps still have to be legal. They weren't.

Does owner know you walk your dogs there?
I have no idea.
I just left a message for the game warden. I'm sure he'll let them know... after they get fined for illegal trapping. If they confess to setting the traps.

Vicious critters, fishers are!
That they are. But they can't help what they are.
I saw a family of a mother and 3 kits run through the woods behind where the coop now sits. They, the black bear, coons, fox and coyote we often hear are why my birds live behind the poultry netting.

As mentioned, today is that last warmish day to enjoy. I decided to visit the lower trails as they become impassable in mid-spring.
We were enjoying them until Bella found this.

I ripped it out of the ground with the intent of throwing it out. I turned around and started heading back out and had just called Skittles to come to me too when he screamed. He had his back right foot caught in another trap.
I got him out in about 10 seconds and carried him about 1/2 mile before putting him down. He ran around without any signs of injury but I'll be keeping an eye on that foot.
Neither trap was tagged. That's illegal. The game warden will be getting a call. I think the land owners set them. They are rotten, nasty people.
This sight makes my hair stand on end! :barnie

Good afternoon everyone! Just brewed us a nice big pot of fresh coffee, so help yourselves and enjoy!
Thank you, LF. I could use one.
Not surprisingly, Skittles foot is swollen where the trap snapped closed on it.

He still appears to be okay. He's not licking it or favoring it. We got lucky.

Imagine seeing your poor little 18# dog with his foot stuck in it screaming his little head off. Such a barbaric thing to do to an animal.

Do you have some Arnica? It helps with bruises and fresh lesions.
