Broody Broken!

Checked with breeder for when my chicks will be ready:
"We have chicks due Tuesday and another batch due the week after.
There are 12 people in front of you. I would guess not this week but maybe next"

MaybeBaby...I understand, but geez, am getting anxious.
I want them now so they are laying by fall.
I started to order mine last fall to have them laying now. I had them let me know when they would have some ready this year. On there first date they didn't couldn't fill the order, on the second date it was when USPS couldn't ship any live animals due to weather. With my lowest number of hens every 3 and 2 roo's I should have got them last fall.
At least this way I didn't have to keep a brooder or coop warm over winter.

Thanks for the coffee! Sunny here again too!
DL, so if they did that, it would only show the very serious mental illness that your sister has, and then you would have the ability to have the courts get her some help. It would add more chaos for sure, but not in the way that CS thinks! I would definitely get the Zoom meetings up with DH's kids as that will help with everything. I know my DH loves chatting with the boys about most everything, especially the older one with his family of entertaining little girl chaos with critters and work details. Having the kids ask for advice on a subject is empowering and it doesn't matter what advice is given, it is just the thought of being needed as a father...
Hugs, DL!
All very true!

:hmm So if I don't get mine until June... I'll be waiting until next spring...? :hit
Depends on the breed. Most start at 4-5months old. Some wait until it warms up if it's cold (winter time, low light, natural time they reduce their laying) before they start laying.
You may be able to put a light in the coop for a few hours each evening to trick them into thinking it's still summer.

I have the 9 growing up in the brooder till strong enough to live in the silkie coop .. These are hatchery pullets bought 2 months ago, She bought the entire brooder because they were peeping .. Very tender heart..

Was not on at all yesterday flat tire on the freeway coming home from Costco .. We got it aired up with a little compressor from Kia.
Took the car 20 miles to Centralia Les Schwab they were busy took about an hour so it was flat again..
We bought the tires new 2 or 3 months ago.
They found a screw in the sidewall tire was dead so they did replace it...

These chicks don't look two months old, rather hardly four weeks as their heads are still covered with plush.

Nails/screws stuck in tires have a long history here.

Maybe it is one she bought them like ya maybe a month ago .. There is feed store there Mom and Pop type ..
Funny Corporate America tried to kill the feed store it was a Del's feed old name here of a coop .. TSC bought it out. only feed store between here and Onalaska or Centralia
There is forty miles to Centrailia but just 10 to Morton..
The folks they bought from opened a new feed store a year after tsc closed it
