BYC Café

yes all good thanks LF; April we had record-breaking dry weather and this month we've had more rain than any other May since records began in 1862 - and we've still a week to go! - so gardening has been challenging (to say the least). It's also about half the temp it should be so a lot of things are struggling and/or had to be redone:th

I hope you are all keeping well and the stuck weather patterns aren't impacting anyone too badly; I expect to be catching up with you all in due course :)
I hope June is better!

Here in California, we are in a record breaking dorught!

Glad you are doing good. :)

I can relate to the "challenging" weather: after weeks of cold, ongoing rain and hailstorms we just had some rays of sunshine the other day, but today it has been all rain and hail again. We are in need of Noah's Arc by now

As a result, I have not planted any vegetables yet. Most of the apple and cherry blossoms got knocked off the trees today, still hoping for some to survive.

Good morning and thanks for the coffee!
The "kind" of odd seems to be changing up here. The old mountain men are dying off and now you have a bunch of trust-fund explorers, (not that there is anything wrong with that) that seem to want to make things how they think it is supposed to be on TV with money but no skills and no ability to listen to people that have been up here for lifetimes. They generally don't last long, or they just "summer." The horse owner person seems to have a serious mental illness, which is unfortunate, to say the least.
But anyway, there are chores to do and time is getting on...
That does seem to be a problem!

Good afternoon, Cafe! Brewed a fresh pot for anyone in need.

Got a much needed break in the madness that is spring startup in irrigation season. Unfortunately, it was in the form of a ridiculous weather pattern that brought 85° the Sunday before last and 24° for a low last Thursday. The night before I was reading about temperatures and blooming fruit trees...10% loss at 28° and 90% loss at 24°. Was up most of the night watching the temps drop (it's projected on our bedroom wall) and wanted to cry with disappointment as it did indeed reach 24°. Looking at the pears yesterday, I would guess 90% is pretty accurate, but I was happy to see the plums seem to have faired much better! Might have some fruit, yet :clap

I'm convinced the snow was brought on by me planting barrels:

But I couldn't take it any longer and it was so very nice outside. Always feels good to get your hands in the dirt.

We got the cows moved the weekend before last, so they had to be fed after the foot of heavy wet snow came. This little munchkin is too funny. Mama is Fiona (daughter of Chewy the Highlander) and is half Angus. Fiona was AI'd to a Highlander, but can't really tell if it took or not. Either way, pretty cute.

Angus face, Chewy body

Tonya, I love love love all of your vacation pictures! I felt like I could smell the ocean and feel the sand on my feet. I'm Soo glad you guys had a great time. And you're a crab saving extrordinaire! What a beautiful place. I was sad to hear about Bella's anxious ride and the dog fight. I hate when my dogs are scared, breaks my heart.

A little R&R is good for the soul. You definitely deserve some of that :hugs
