BYC Café

Critters found on this mornings run.
I also saw a juvenile Bald Eagle fly over the swollen creek bed.

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready.
We had torrential downpours last night and more rain has started today. The river shot up from 5.71 ft yesterday at 7:00 pm to 11.69 ft this morning at 7:00 am.

I'll have to keep the dogs away from the creek when I take them out to run today. It will be raging.

Bella found a ground nest of bees yesterday. I just heard her yelp and shoot out of the area where she was digging, stop and start frantically rubbing her face, run, stop and rub again. I saw more bees flying towards her and told her to RUN and we all took off for the field. I smashed one more bee that was stinging her left flank and we kept running until I couldn't see them any longer.
When we got home I gave her 75 mg of diphenhydramine and rubbed some AfterBite into her flank. I could only find one swelling directly under her left eye. I think she got lucky but it sure did rattle her cage.
Our water charts for reservoir water storage all go the other direction!

This beats the previous record low of 1,071.61 feet set back in 2016. At its peak in 1983, Lake Mead had a recorded water level of 1,225 feet above sea level. The closest it's been to that level in modern times was in 2000, when it reached 1,214 feet.

That is above sea level how high is the water above lake bottom level?
The article says:

Currently, Lake Mead is roughly 140 feet below its 2000 level when it was considered full. That's about the height of the Statue of Liberty in New York. If Lake Mead drops another 175 feet, water would then no longer pass through the Hoover Dam and cut off the water supply for everyone downstream.

It is July and there will not be rain for a long time to fill it up! Electrical production is at 25% now to save water.

Lake Oroville is in a similar condition and will likely stop electrical production for the first time ever. It is at 32% of capacity.
