BYC Café

Oh yes! Good morning and thanks for the coffee 😉

It's sunny and dry out for the first time in who knows how long. I'm getting ready for a big move across the country for a couple of months for work (teaching at a local university there for the winter semester). Don't worry, hubby will look after the chickens when I'm gone! It will be nice to be near my parents - and they have 10 acres with ducks, horses, a peacock, and beautiful garden spaces that I will make use of during my time away.

Definitely NOT a dog for me! :lau

Good thing we all don't like the same things or this world would be such a boring place. 😁

But how can you say no to this face? 🤣😍

Good morning Cafe. Thanks for the coffee.

I had just entered the brooder room to go in and start cleaning the boards this morning when Fabio sent up the aerial predator alarm. And he really meant business. It wasn't the one that's more like "I see something up there but I'm not sure what it is; everyone be cautious". It was "HAWK"! Everyone ran for cover and I heard Napoleon take up the alarm from inside the run. I think he was just doubling down on Fabio's alarm because he couldn't see the hawk.

I could. It was perched in the giant oak at the neighbor's house. Where they feed the wild birds. It looked like a Cooper's but I really couldn't see it well enough. It flew over the pen then on up over the forest. It didn't seem interested in the the flock. I think it was after the wild birds at the feeder.

Ace tid-bitted for the first time yesterday. He is coming along very nicely and I hope he gets to stay. It would be nice to have another pair of eyes to the sky.

Good morning and thanks for the coffee! We have a couple of nice days and then, not so much..."Snow Likely and Damaging Winds." Not sure what that means and it might be a new person not realizing normal for here vs somewhere else, except Orca's place which it seems that would still be labeled a breeze. :) I here chores calling my name so I guess enjoy the day you all. DL, I hope the place is not sold to some entity that would ruin it!
All too common these days...

Hopefully it won't be too bad, but it won't hurt to "batten down the hatches" just incase. Living in Cape Breton has given me a new perspective for the definition of "high winds", but I also realize that what we get here can be extremely damaging if the houses aren't built for it...

Of course not.
On the contrary, I was clapping and jumping and smiling at him for being such a good boy for coming to me when I called him from across the smaller field and he came running.
Oh, I thought you had to go all the way back to the car.

I don't know Tonya's area but more than likely it will be turned into housing, possibly dense housing.

I don't know if you follow Tractor Time With Tim but the farm next to their house (which has some land, all the houses around them have a number of acres) is being sold and 8 THOUSAND houses will be put up. They will be (not) moving from the country to small lot suburbia without changing their address. I think I'd move my @SS outta there long before those houses are built. And what are the odds that their properties will then start being taxed for "development potential"? Or raised because they have acerage?
