For use in a chicken run?
You know the drill, use chips from outside of pile and add a 1-3" layer in run every week or two(or as needed).

Growing plants in 'woody' soil can greatly reduce nitrogen available to plants.
If they are in an area that gets sun and lots of wind to dry them, yes.
Thanks, @aart and @DobieLover.

Most of the woodchips will be going on the garden, probably. That heavy soil needs something, and where I piled some compost (chicken bedding/poop and leaves) has a much better texture.

I do want to put some chips in the chicken run too. I'll scrape stuff off the surface of the pile for the chickens. For the garden, I'll probably be shoveling into the trailer to haul up the hill to the garden. It's a pretty steep hill; Jeep help is much appreciated with that.

Yes, I'd read that chips/wood added to soil can reduce the nitrogen available to plants, as it gets tied up with breaking down the wood. I have a plan for that.

Good morning and thanks for the coffee! 81.25mph was the highest gust up here yesterday.
There were a few trees that came down and DH and I cleaned up one that was blocking the road and one that fell on a fence. Need to replace the main post that broke in that crash.
A neighbor is working on one in his yard, not sure if he wants help or not. I may cruise by and see if progress is being made.
Yesterday, we were supposed to get 5 inches of snow today. Today, sunny with no accumulation. It sounds like our weather forecasters are in cahoots with DL's circle of dump managers!

This is what I'm building. It will be on the right side of the deck. I added 'to scale' footprints of the deck furniture that will go in there and the antique oak shelf I'll be putting out there.

These are the curtains I ordered for it:

I'm going to install metal electrical conduit for the curtain rods and run a tight nylon rope down at the bottom of the curtains to go through the grommets to keep them from getting whipped around in strong winds.

I had leftover door and window flashing so I used it to seal around the vents before I put up the I&W and underlayment.

I can't wait to see the look on my manicurists face the next time I go in.
