BYC Café

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready.

The heat comes today. High in the 90s.

Astrid was released from the breaker last night and roosted. Still acting normal this morning.
Wren was starting crap with Jody who was still in the breaker. Never saw that before. They almost started fence fighting, hackles flared, wings out, staring each other down while Wren kept picking up and dropping things to challenge... that same crap Fabio does to me.
I tossed Wren out the run door.
Could you try and get a picture. While I've seen hens fence fighting it's not a common sight and a pictorial record would be cool.:)

In my case I am positive that our meeting was arranged by my guardian angels. Some of us just get lucky.
I dread to think what sort of angel is looking after me then. Probably one of those that got expelled.:lol:
Not to worry. A least I know he's going to be male given there are no female angels.

For now ;)

Betty (2018 Welsummer) went in the buster last night, second time this year. She has gone broody every year. Nyx (5 toed black "Ameraucana") went in too. This is her first time, she is a year old.

BOY is she a nasty broody. She's a bit smaller than average in my flock but she was all wings and beak when I went to take her out of the nest box. I tried to prod her out with a stick about a foot long. Did she hit the stick? Heck no, she went for the hand holding it. I got her out and she pancaked on the floor. I picked her up for her ride to the other coop where Daisy the egg eater lives, usually sleeping on top of the buster cage, and made it unscathed but I think in the future I'll be wearing gloves with Nyx.
Whasamatterwivyou. A stick for a broody hen! :lau

Why, never. :lau Saturday was a different story.

For several days the Princess has said she thinks that I was running a fever. Last night I developed chills, shaking, hurting skin and sweats. Went to bed at 7:30 -soaked the bed and 2 Henleys with sweat. Today I feel okay. Just took a Covid test for whatever they are worth, and it was negative. All I can say is that for 2 + years when I was faithfully masking I had no illnesses. In the last 2 months a cold and now this. Elaine, where are the masks?
I'm still not right (in the body before you lot start about my head:p) after my bout of covid which was over two months ago.
Just thought I would mention it to cheer you all up.

Good afternoon Cafe.
I've been dog and chicken sitting. Got home properly yesterday.
Still trying to get the dog hair out of clothes, rucksack, even found some in the chicken feed containor.
Spoko, the dog, is a 13 year old Husky. Lovely looking dog but quite hard work. He's got doggy dementia and is a bit unpredicatable. The hens on the other had were a delight.

Ya know when we got the 'cold' on our vacation we did not test. Symptoms were relatively short in duration, but a dry hacking cough is hanging on. We did mask and social distance for nearly a week. :idunno
